Summer Reading Program
Summer Reading Program
The Summer Reading Program (SRP) is required for all students in grades 7 through 12. The purpose of the SRP is to help fulfill the school’s mission to cultivate lifelong learners. Students will select from an approved list two books for their incoming grade level that they have not previously read. The list includes various disciplines—history, theology, philosophy, science, art and music, as well as poetry and fictional prose. Upon completion of the books, parents will sign a form confirming that their son or daughter has read the books.
Students will be responsible for obtaining their own copy, whether by purchase, download, or borrowing the book from the library. The selections are all part of the “canon” of Great Books and so should be readily available and relatively inexpensive.
